After approxiamately 18 years of hula training with the late Kumu Hula Puluelo Naipo Park and her daughter, Pumehana Cullen, Kapualani received her blessing from both of her Kumu Hula to ʻuniki and then opened her hālau. The doors of Nā Hula O Ka Moani Lauaʻe first opened on October 7, 1998 at the Waimānalo Hawaiian Homestead Community Center, then relocated to Kealakekua, Hawaiʻi from 2006 to 2008. On June 17, 2008, the hālau returned to Waimānalo, Oʻahu. On June 7, 2011, the hālau settled in Heʻeia. With a new home nestled in the Koʻolau, a new name was inspired to reflect the beauty of this ahupuaʻa. Thus we have become, "Hoʻōla Wai ʻŌlena o Waipao."
It is a pleasure to continue to serve and share with the families in the community and else where.
Hoʻōla Wai ʻŌlena o Waipaoinvites you to come and join us for hula lessons. Come be a part of our ʻohana!
